The new year is a prompt to look forward, but also to look back over the prior year and think about what went well, what felt off-script, what was important that you didn't get to (and why not?).

For those who like movies, there’s a book by screenwriter William Goldman called Adventures in the Screen Trade. In it is a piece of advice I’ve found helpful: “No one knows anything.”

When I tell people what I do–work in operations–they often have an idea of what this could maybe mean, but don’t really know what it is. Fair enough! It’s vague sounding and a pretty broad term.
